PublishingPageContent

The purpose of Year 10 is to:

  • prepare for subjects in Year 11 and 12
  • sample subjects you might be considering in Year 11 and 12
  • begin to build pathways to qualifications and further learning beyond school

Year 10 subject guide

The Year 10 Subject Guide is a resource to help students select subjects for the beginning of their senior phase of schooling. Click here to view the complete year 10 subject guide or individual subjects can be found in the tables below.

Subject Selection:

  • All students must study 6 subjects for the entirety of Year 10
  • All subjects run for the whole year
  • All students must study English and Maths. Students will be placed in their level of English and Maths. Selected students will be invited to do Extension Maths.
  • All students must study 4 electives.
  • Students must have been accepted into a sports excellence subject.

Consider the following when choosing your elective subjects:

  • What subjects sound interesting and I think I would like to try before I get to year 11 and 12?
  • Have I considered my future learning pathways eg. university, TAFE or Work?
  • Do I need to build strengths in any particular areas?
  • Should I choose certain subjects that may relate to my career aspirations and my strengths?

Vocational Education and training (VET)

Students can participate in Vocational Education and Training during their Senior Secondary studies. Certificate I, II, or III courses can be taken off-campus through TAFE or a private RTO, or through a school-based traineeship.
