Unforgettable Experiences Beyond the Classroom
At Miami SHS, we're proud to offer a rich variety of experiences that extend beyond academics for our international students. Each term, students have the opportunity to join exciting excursions to some of Australia's most iconic destinations. In 2025 we offered excursions to Lady Elliot Island, City – Sydney or Melbourne, K'gari (Fraser Island), and Moreton Island.
We also provide meaningful cultural learning through our Indigenous education incursion, offering insight into Australia's First Nations peoples and traditions.
Please note that excursions are optional and involve an additional cost. These experiences are a fantastic way to explore Australia, connect with classmates, and create lifelong memories.

2025 Study Abroad Student Testimonial's:
Enrica Morelli from Italy, Term 1 – Term 2 2025
I chose Miami SHS because the teachers are very good, the school has a very good location because it's close to Pacific Fair (large shopping centre), and the beaches and the subjects are so interesting and different from mine in Italy.
My host family was amazing, they cared about me every day and they took me to lots of places, letting me experience Australia as much as possible.
The school coordinators were very supportive and welcoming and I could always count on them. They also organized trips and events to let us be all together.
Since I've been here, I've changed a lot because I became more mature and independent. I learnt to never give up, to be curious and discover new and beautiful places, to be always smiling and empathetic and to seize every moment because the time can't come back.
Emma Munsch Pais from Germany, Term 1 – Term 2 2025
I chose Miami State High School because of the location and the sports program which my agency told me about. I enjoyed the people here the most and of course the excellent location. Another thing I really appreciate is the International program with the variety of trips that we could choose from.
I really enjoy the lovely atmosphere that my homestay created and that it really feels like home to me. I love talking to my homestay family and the fact that we always have dinner together, which makes me feel like they are my second home. Another thing I really like is the excellent food and cooking, which I will really miss as soon as I go back to Germany.
I didn't really need any help from the international team because I had no problems with my home stay or anything else but I know that they always would have been there for me.
When I look back, I can see that I got so much more confidence and got to know how is to build a new life on your own. It is not always easy but definitely possible. The most important thing I learned is that the hardest part of going to another country is to have the courage to make the decision and actually book the flight. As soon as you're gone everything seems so easy. Before I left, I couldn't imagine living without my family and closest friends. But once I was here, everything worked out how it should and I think I could even stay longer.
