The Miami High Tennis Excellence Program aims to provide athletes with a holistic approach to developing the technical, tactical, psychological, fitness and nutritional aspects of tennis. The program delivers a personalised learning pathway that enhances students’ opportunities for active participation and employment in the sport of tennis. Through utilising qualified, professional and experienced staff, young athletes are able to be mentored and tracked throughout their journey to maximise their potential and progress to higher levels of development and competition.

Course Structure and Overview

The Tennis Excellence Program consists of both a Year 7, 8 and 9 combined class and a Year 10, 11 and 12 combined class. All students attend 3 x 70 minute lessons per week plus additional sessions outside of curriculum time which are held before school. Tennis coaching sessions along with strength and conditioning are provided through our partnership with KDV Sport.

Students in the senior program will be expected to complete a senior subject leading to a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and contributing to Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) as part of the 3 year course.

QCE subject choices may include the following:

  • Cert II in Sports Coaching (Tennis)
  • Cert III in Fitness and Cert II in Sport and Recreation
  • Cert III in Sport and Recreation & Cert II in Outdoor Recreation

Including Interschool sport, additional sessions and class time, students will be involved in approximately six hours per week of instruction and participation.

Student Experiences

The Tennis Excellence Program will enhance and develop individual student learning through the following:

  • KDV Sport
  • Nationally accredited coaches
  • Affiliation with Tennis Queensland
  • Access to Queensland Tennis Centre and Tennis Queensland
  • Development of players to be “intrinsically” self-motivated
  • Individualised strength and conditioning program

To be considered for entry into the Tennis Excellence Program, students will need to have a passion for tennis and the desire to take their game to the next level. In addition, students are required to submit a written application and attend a trial day.

An annual fee in addition to the school resource scheme fee is payable before a student commences in an Excellence Program and each subsequent year that the student is a part of a program.

Tennis Excellence: $500 per semester
