The Miami High Girls Rugby 7’s Excellence Program aims to provide students with an Olympic Games pathway. Through funded coaching and links with the Queensland Rugby Union and Rugby Australia, students are able to access learning experiences that enhance active participation and employment opportunities in rugby and other sports.
Athletes will have access to a dedicated rugby training field, fully equipped gymnasium, accredited coaches and fitness instructors. The program will include individual fitness and skills assessment and reviews, skills based training, regular video analysis and 7’s specific strength and conditioning. The program is designed for athletes to progress to higher levels of development and competition.

Course Structure and Overview
The Girls Rugby 7’s Excellence Program consists of both a Year 7, 8, 9 combined class and a Year 10, 11, 12 combined class. All students attend 3 x 70 minute lessons per week plus additional sessions outside of curriculum time.
Senior students will complete a Certificate II in Sport and Recreation contributing to their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
Junior students will complete various World Rugby and Rugby Australia qualifications in coaching and officiating.
Including Interschool sport, additional sessions and class time, students will be involved in approximately six hours per week of instruction and participation.
Student Experiences
The Girl's Rugby 7's Excellence Program will enhance and develop individual student learning through the following:
Regular Queensland Rugby Q7's School Tournaments
Lectures by Griffith University Sports Science on 7's player development
Training with Griffith University National Women’s 7’s teams
Specific Rugby 7's Strength & Conditioning sessions
Assistance with University Rugby scholarships
To be considered for entry into the Girls Rugby 7's Excellence Program, students will need to have a passion for Rugby and a desire to take their game to the next level. In addition, students are required to submit a written application and attend a trial day.
Cost
An annual fee in addition to the school resource scheme fee is payable before a student commences in an Excellence Program and each subsequent year that the student is a part of a program.
Girls Rugby 7's Excellence: $200 per semester
