Social Work and Family Therapist
I am the social worker and family therapist at Miami State High School. I sit in the wellbeing school space in G block. As part of my role I can engage families in psychosocial assessments to identify barriers to student learning and engagement in school, advocate on behalf of students and families/carers for the purpose of assisting students' educational outcomes, emotional wellbeing and equity of service provision; recognise and refer to existing school staff and external agencies when students require additional support as a result of personal, family and school complexities. I can identify and provide intervention to students and families that experience mental health challenges. I work closely with the school wellbeing team to provide a holistic view of the student and families/carers needs.
