Touch Excellence

 

"Turning players of today into champions of tomorrow"

 

 
 Course Structure and Overview

The Touch Football Excellence Program is structured as a 3 year course of study in the junior school from year 7 to the end of year 9 and a combined class across year 10, 11 and 12. Both programs consist of 3 x 70 minute lessons per week plus additional sessions held outside of curriculum time. Students in the senior program will be expected to complete a senior subject leading to a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and contributing to Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) as part of the 3 year course.

QCE subject choices may include the following:

·           Cert III in Fitness and Cert II in Sport and Recreation

·           Cert III in Sport and Recreation & Cert II in Outdoor Recreation

·           Recreation SAS

Including Interschool sport, additional sessions and class time, students will be involved in approximately six hours per week of instruction and participation.

Students are tracked through the entirety of the program in both Touch Football and academic performance as well as being guided and mentored into well rounded student athletes. Practical elements of the program are designed to develop elite and high performing Touch Football players through a structured training program consisting of skill development, competitive gameplay, state of the art fitness testing and a personalised strength and conditioning program. Theoretical components of the program include; sports psychology, coaching, officiating, nutrition, fitness components, training methods, biomechanics, event management and video analysis.

This program will provide students with career pathways that include:

·         Representative Touch Football player

·         Touch Football Coach

·         Touch Football Referee

·         Fitness industry professional

·         Nutritionist or dietician

·         Sports and player management

·         Exercise Physiologist



Student Experiences

The Touch Football Excellence Program will enhance and develop individual student learning through the following:

         ·         Use of nationally accredited and experienced coaches

         ·         Progressive and challenging Touch Football sessions

         ·         Personalised strength and conditioning program

         ·         Tracking of fitness, performance and student welfare

         ·         Video analysis and feedback

         ·         Athlete guest presenters

         ·         Touch Football coaching courses and accreditation

         ·         Touch Football refereeing courses and accreditation

         ·         Competitive gameplay

       ·         Industry links with Palm Beach Stingrays Touch and South East Queensland Sharks Touch Football

Throughout my involvement with the touch program I was able to reach my full potential in my chosen sport winning an Allschools State Championships along with captaining Qld and representing New Zealand.”

Cost

An annual fee in addition to the school resource scheme fee is payable before a student commences in an Excellence Program and each subsequent year that the student is a part of a program. The fees for 2019 are still being finalised at this point, however you will be notified at the time positions are awarded.

Year 7 2019 Application Process and Trial / Audition dates

         1)      Complete the Expression of Interest Survey Monkey by 29th March 2018

     2)      Complete and submit a written application​ (separate application for each program) by the due date.

20th April 2018 - Stellar Academic Excellence applications close

11th May 2018 - Dance, Contemporary Instrumental Music, Touch, Tennis, Girls Rugby 7’s, Surfing and Athlete Excellence applications close

        3)      Attend the relevant trial or audition (see below)\

 

Touch Excellence – Monday 4th June 2018

Trial Process

Students will be required to take part in the following;

-          Fitness testing – Various Touch specific components will be tested

-          Skills testing and performance

-          Game play scenarios and decision making

 

Students will require

-          Football boots

-          Water bottle​
