Tennis Excellence

"Every point is a step towards success"

The Miami High Tennis Excellence Program aims to provide athletes with a holistic approach to developing the technical, tactical, psychological, fitness and nutritional aspects relating to tennis. The program delivers a personalised learning pathway that enhances students’ opportunities for active participation and employment in the sport of tennis. Through utilising qualified, professional and experienced staff young athletes are able to be mentored and tracked throughout their journey.

 Course Structure and Overview

The Tennis Excellence Program consists of both a Year 7, 8, 9 combined class and a Year 10, 11, 12 combined class. All students attend 3 x 70 minute lessons per week plus additional sessions outside of curriculum time.  Students in the senior program will be expected to complete a senior subject leading to a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and contributing to Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) as part of the 3 year course.

QCE subject choices may include the following:

         ·         Cert III in Fitness and Cert II in Sport and Recreation

         ·         Cert III in Sport and Recreation & Cert II in Outdoor Recreation

         ·         Recreation SAS

Including Interschool sport, additional sessions and class time, students will be involved in approximately six hours per week of instruction and participation.

The Excellence program provides an opportunity to develop tennis skills through school based coaching and interschool sport competitions which will improve the athlete’s external fixture and tournament results. Individualised programs will be designed to maximise potential so athletes can progress to higher levels of development and competition.  Athletes will have access to six tennis courts, fully equipped gymnasium, accredited coaches and fitness instructors.  The program will include individual fitness assessment, regular video analysis and tennis specific strength and conditioning.

This program will provide students with career pathways that include:

        ·         Tennis centre manager

        ·         Fitness instructors

        ·         Event coordinators
